Hello, my name is Dr Jay Kennedy.  Over the last 5 years I�ve developed, tested, and taught what has proven to be a highly effective and easy to learn decompression traction technique.   This technique has been taught to over 1500 chiropractors and physical therapists throughout the United States and Canada since 2003.

In my 20 years of practice and 12 years of utilizing decompression therapy in my own practice, I�ve owned and operated decompression therapy equipment offered by a range of manufacturers including VAX-D, DRS, Lordex, Dynatronics and Chattanooga.

This has afforded me the unique position of having done 100�s of cross-comparison treatments with these various units. This research led to the development of the Chattanooga DTS system, its restraint belts, unique table innovations and treatment protocols.

My research and design efforts have allowed thousands of Chiropractors to purchase a safe and cost effective alternative to  prohibitively high priced decompression units.  Over 4000 systems (based upon my research and design) have been sold so far… with estimates of 2 million patient treatments using our protocols and methods to date.

I believe it is imperative that we put the doctor into decompression therapy, and dispel the notion that the “magic is in the machine”.  This is simply marketing hyperbole…not science.

This is the major reason for offering this on-line education…to focus on doctor skill, doctor information and doctor awareness dispelling the nonsense that a machine is solely responsible for the clinical results.

I know that with specific, focused education emphasizing proper patient selection and patient positioning, as well as time, force and angle…a quality, lower cost traction unit can and will generate exceptional outcomes in disc compression syndromes.

In addition, we must also understand when a patient�s condition is unlikely to be helped by traction.  My technique will help give you that information quickly and accurately.

I have been very fortunate to have purchased the ATM2 clinical system some 3 years ago.  The ATM2 is an Active Therapeutic Motion rehab system for active relief of pain…treating both chronic and acute motion disorders in a functional and weight-bearing position.

More than any single intervention, the ATM2 has provided many answers to the questions regarding why decompression fails to give satisfactory results in some cases. 

My technique focuses on creating three major patient categories…disc compression, movement disorders and a combination of the two. Each has its own specific criteria, functional examination and treatment parameters…you will become an expert on the differential diagnosis by the end of the course as well as with cervical & carpel procedures and their respective examinations.

Unlike the purchase of an adjusting table…a chiropractor typically enters the decompression/traction market with limited prior knowledge…and gaining information that has substantial clinical value and that is actually fact based, has been nearly impossible.

We have chosen to name this technique: Kennedy Decompression Technique… not as a shameless self promotion… but for several, more substantive reasons:

1. I have taught over 100 decompression seminars in the United States and Canada with these protocols and procedures and I�ve taught at several major chiropractic colleges. These methods  simply work… and have a proven track record.

2. I get dozens of calls per week requesting a concise and complete course of material on our decompression and treatment techniques.

3. I also felt a �proper� named technique allows a user a stronger sense that there is someone taking direct responsibility for the accuracy and value of the information…the buck stops here so to speak…

I will continue to add and refine the information… and be a sounding board for opinions…both agreeing and dissenting…and modify the information when it will be of benefit.

I take my role and my information very seriously…we have decided to launch this National, web-based course outlining the Kennedy Decompression Technique after codifying and streamlining it for nearly 2 years.

We know from over 1500 chiropractors utilizing this information that it has distinct clinical value.  We of course have stood on the shoulders of genius� and borrowed liberally from much published research…and added our own clinical insights to the information.  It is simple, effective and easy to implement allowing a new or experienced doctor to quickly classify patient groups, channel them into the most appropriate intervention and use post treatment assessments to validate the procedures.

No technique or classification can be perfect nor foolproof…however when we focus on proven functional, provocative examination findings and post treatment assessments using decompression, Active movement therapy or a properly timed combination of treatments we find dramatic & consistent clinical outcomes.
